I woke up recently seeing the written words, “SON OF MAN” then hearing the verse, “The son of man is lord over the Sabbath.”
Matt 12:8 – 8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
Another way of saying this verse is “The man who repents will have authority over/to enter into rest.”
I realized this was a two-fold word – for a specific person but also a different tangent for the whole body of Christ. If you are anything like me, you have heard it taught that the Son of man is Jesus Christ. That is partially true, in referencing the humanness of Jesus Christ, but also partially deceptive in a way that causes us to lose sight of the authority we carry when we think it ONLY applies to Him. The prophets have declared we have crossed over into the Kingdom Era, so we need to be aware of the burden of responsibility upon us.
The Bible clearly states that Jesus, GOD come in the flesh, could NOT have been the Son of man in His Godhood. God is NOT a son of man. A son of man is a person who has repented (changed his thinking to depart from sin and to line up in obedience with God’s word.) That part Jesus DID fulfill as an example for us to follow. Christ IN us is the hope of glory!
Numbers 23:19- God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Ezekiel, a watchman prophet, is the most commonly named Son of man in the scriptures. Daniel, a prophet during the captivity in Babylon, was another one. (Dan 8:17) Jesus Christ is the most common Son of man mentioned in the New Testament.
Let’s unpack the scriptures and see how a Son of man behaves to grow our discernment between the righteous and the wicked. We also need to know what is to be expected as we align ourselves and walk in the fullness of scripture.
