The Shell-Shocked Church & Walking into Victory

May 14th , 2022 during group worship & prayer, I heard the word “shell-shocked” while interceding for a person called to five-fold office that had suddenly flipped into fighting for the Kingdom of Darkness, completely out of character for them as they suddenly perceived fellow warriors as enemies.  Upon digging into the definition, it applies to a LOT of people as they have developed battle fatigue during COVID.

Definition of Shellshock:

• (Psychiatry) loss of sight, memory, etc, resulting from psychological (**soul = mind, will, emotions) strain during prolonged engagement in warfare
• Battle/Combat Fatigue
• Affected with shell shock or combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder
• Mentally confused, stunned, upset, distressed, or exhausted as a result of a highly stressful or disturbing and often unexpected event or difficult experience or prolonged trauma.
• “… shell-shocked consumers were pledging their allegiance to the “New Frugality.” Chastened by the brutal lessons of the worst economic downturn in decades, Americans swore off conspicuous consumption and resolved to embrace the thrifty ways of their grandparents …”— Stefan Theil

The new lingo for Shellshock is PTSD – Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  This was an exciting discovery because I had PTSD in the military. I was left behind after breaking my back, then my master corporal and captain that went on were blown up by landmine. Not only did I have the devastating consequences of being told I would have a permanent physical injury resulting in the end of my career but now I was tormented by survivor’s guilt and a bad case of the should-a, could-a, would-a’s. Years later through prayer, I was instantly delivered from a spirit of fear and my broken back supernaturally restored the moment I received my healing. I was a stubborn case so it took me 9 days before I finally gave up fighting God, acknowledging He was God and not me in my pride thinking I got to decide what was what in my life, and humbly received His free gift of salvation in my body and mind as I submitted to Him as my LORD.  Sometimes God allows us to stubbornly experience things that are more fearful than He is in order to prove He’s the better option! 

To fully understand the word of knowledge about “Shell-shock,” I looked up the definition & symptoms of PTSD as per the ADAA (https://adaa.org/understanding-anxiety/posttraumatic-stress-disorder-ptsd/symptoms ). Read the below through the lens of the repeated & prolonged traumas of lockdowns & mainstream media’s fearmongering death threats & threatened/actual life losses (academic, social, employment, reputation, medical, etc.) endured by everyone during the COVID Pandemic and then read it again through the spiritual lens of one engaged in spiritual warfare. It may help you understand why we needed to “shift gears” from operating from our souls and start warring from our spirits.

“PTSD is diagnosed after a person experiences symptoms for at least one month following a traumatic event. However symptoms may not appear until several months or even years later. The disorder is characterized by three main types of symptoms:

• Re-experiencing the trauma through intrusive distressing recollections of the event, flashbacks, and nightmares.
• Emotional numbness and avoidance of places, people, and activities that are reminders of the trauma.
• Increased arousal such as difficulty sleeping and concentrating, feeling jumpy, and being easily irritated and angered

Diagnosis criteria that apply to adults, adolescents, and children older than six include those below. Read more details here.

• Exposure to actual or threatened death (**Repeated media of COVID deaths, lockdowns**), serious injury, or sexual violation:
• directly experiencing the traumatic events 
• witnessing, in person, the traumatic events (**chronic exposure on every media device fearmongering about COVID cases/deaths regardless of accuracy**)
• learning that the traumatic events occurred to a close family member or close friend; cases of actual or threatened death must have been violent or accidental (**Hospitals turned into concentration camps & murdered prisoners with the “COVID drug protocols”**)
• experiencing repeated or extreme exposure to aversive details of the traumatic events (Examples are first responders collecting human remains; police officers repeatedly exposed to details of child abuse). Note: This does not apply to exposure through electronic media, television, movies, or pictures, unless exposure is work-related.   (**Media played a HUGE role in traumatizing the masses, through lying media.**)

The presence of one or more of the following:

• spontaneous or cued recurrent, involuntary, and intrusive distressing memories of the traumatic events (Note: In children repetitive play may occur in which themes or aspects of the traumatic events are expressed.)
• recurrent distressing dreams in which the content or affect (i.e. feeling) of the dream is related to the events (Note: In children there may be frightening dreams without recognizable content.)
• flashbacks or other dissociative reactions in which the individual feels or acts as if the traumatic events are recurring (Note: In children trauma-specific reenactment may occur in play.)
• intense or prolonged psychological distress at exposure to internal or external cues that symbolize or resemble an aspect of the traumatic events (**Public signs identifying the “lepers” along with persecuting threats for non-compliance.**)
• physiological reactions to reminders of the traumatic events (**People wearing or not wearing masks, depending which side of the fence they were on**)
• Persistent avoidance of distressing memories, thoughts, or feelings about or closely associated with the traumatic events or of external reminders (i.e., people, places, conversations, activities, objects, situations)
  
  

Two or more of the following:

• inability to remember an important aspect of the traumatic events (not due to head injury, alcohol, or drugs)
• persistent and exaggerated negative beliefs or expectations about oneself, others, or the world (e.g., “I am bad,” “No one can be trusted,” “The world is completely dangerous”). 
• persistent, distorted blame of self or others about the cause or consequences of the traumatic events
• persistent fear, horror, anger, guilt, or shame
• markedly diminished interest or participation in significant activities
• feelings of detachment or estrangement from others
• persistent inability to experience positive emotions
  
  

Two or more of the following marked changes in arousal and reactivity:

• irritable or aggressive behavior
• reckless or self-destructive behavior
• hypervigilance
• exaggerated startle response
• problems with concentration
• difficulty falling or staying asleep or restless sleep
• Also, clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning not attributed to the direct physiological effects of medication, drugs, or alcohol or another medical condition, such as traumatic brain injury.”

Approximate Synonyms from the ICD-10:

• Concentration camp syndrome (**Remember prior words about rescuing P.O.W.’s from Jezebel’s Concentration Camp)
• Dissociative symptoms co-occurrent and due to posttraumatic stress disorder
• Posttraumatic stress disorder
• Posttraumatic stress disorder w delayed expression
• Posttraumatic stress disorder w dissociative symptoms
• Posttraumatic stress disorder, delayed onset”

Reading through this list, do you now recognize some shell-shocked people in your social circles? It is easier to have compassion and love those acting like your enemies, being willing  to stand in the gap and make up the hedge around them so God might not destroy their land when you can recognize the true enemy at work instead of viewing a shell-shocked fellow warrior gone off the deep end as your enemy. That has been one of the strategies of the devil – divide and conquer. He knows that division, hatred, and dissension are fruits of the flesh and those who partner with the flesh will NOT inherit the Kingdom of Heaven that is actively rising in this hour. 

Unbelievers, church members, and church leaders alike who were not taught spiritual warfare but rather left ignorant of the schemes of the devil have been left exposed to the elements of the spiritual warfare being waged against the body of Christ under the guise of “COVID”. Even pioneers who have been leading the developing army of God,  who have taken the hardest brunt of the spiritual warfare to create a beach head and take new territory for the Kingdom of Heaven under much enemy bombing, have endured the repeated emotional trauma of seeing many of their comrades and families spiritually blown up. Fighting one battlefront successfully, only to discover that your platoon or family members were taken out by a secondary ambush because they lacked the tools to identify the landmines in their path and knowledge to disarm them or because they lacked the firepower of Holy Spirit to destroy the works of the enemy, has resulted in survivor’s guilt for many.  

Why The Prolonged Warfare To Begin With?

Many prophets have been declaring that it is harvest time. Others have declared it’s the 3rd great awakening. It sounds exciting to hear and hope for on the surface but many often don’t comprehend the reality of harvest time. For those who sowed good seed of the word into fertile healthy soil of their hearts, that declaration is AWESOME! However, those who were given DMO’s (devil-modified-organisms aka hybrid & barren seed, doctrines of demons) sown upon hard or rocky hearts and lacked the discernment to accurately identify the counterfeit seed are discovering they have sown to their flesh, reaping corruption in their lives. They are in shock to discover that despite attending church Sundays and Wednesdays and tithing for decades and even faithfully serving in the church business that the tares in their heart are being tossed into the fires of calamity, leaving many disillusioned and bitter.

Case in point – How many pastors taught their congregations that slander brings the curse of bankruptcy and evictions upon their children so many are experiencing during COVID? How many pulpit preachers taught that envy (wanting what others have, poverty mindsets, serving Mammon) rots the bones or that those curses upon the father’s unrepented iniquity of envy will rot the bones of their descendants all the way down to 3-4 generations? How many conference speakers taught that that the consequences of remarriage after divorce or lustfully gazing at porn or a-whoring after other gods, which the Bible declares is adultery but many churches say is acceptable, brings about the curses of ingesting bitter waters, instead of the streams of living waters, that cause a swollen belly leading to infertility and a rotten thigh/hip that often manifests as a fractured hip? A consistent diet of digesting AND apply God’s word as Holy Spirit teaches us all things combined with a healthy lifestyle of the Fear of the LORD would have prevented these calamities falling upon people when harvest season came.

Solution:

Many have become angry & disillusioned with God as the COVID Pandemic drags on, thinking He turned His back on them as everything went belly-up, whether actual or merely perceived. However, Isaiah 59 shows that it is OUR clinging to iniquity FIRST that causes Him to turn His face away. The Heavenly Father already sent His son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for our iniquity but we must receive it then not trample upon the blood of his covenant nor His spirit of Grace!

Isaiah 59:2 KJV – 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Isaiah 53:4-6 KJV  4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Hebrews 10:26-31 NLT –  26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. 30 For we know the one who said, “I will take revenge.  I will pay them back.”[h] He also said, “The Lord will judge his own people.”[i] 31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 12:25-29 –  25 Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! 26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.”[k] 27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. 28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. 29 For our God is a devouring fire.

The solution to chronic exposure of fear and trauma is shifting gears into the Fear of the LORD and allowing Him to bind up our broken hearts.  For some, God’s pure seed of the word was never offered. For others, it WAS offered but rejected in favour of hybrid seed that had promised more favourable immediate gratification harvest for the first generation requiring less tilling & poor quality soil then barrenness for the following generations. The ultimate responsibility is upon the one who allowed the seed of iniquity to be sown and/or remain growing in their own fields. They have turned their backs on God by forsaking and abandoning His commandments, not the other way around. Those who reject the “Yare” fear of the LORD will be handed over to the “Pachad” terror of the LORD that comes upon His enemies. Those who refuse to obey His commandments are deemed His enemies that hate Him, regardless whether they have a church membership card or not.

That means we CAN do something! We can overcome by walking in the fear of the LORD instead of remaining victims to the destruction of sin and iniquity.  The solution is to recognize what sin is in the first place by reading His word & listening to His voice, take responsibility, confess our own sins and the iniquity of our ancestors like the exiled remnant in Nehemiah 8 & 9, and repent by return back to the LORD and His commandments and be converted as our actions line up with our renewed thoughts, which brings healing!  

Hosea 14:1-9 – O Israel, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. 2 Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. 3 Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy. 4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him. 5 I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.6 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.7 They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon. 8 Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found. 9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

Isaiah 6:10 –  10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

This ministry was the one that released fruitful seed that led to my daughter being healed of autism among many other healings as we applied their teachings, and led to others being healed of similar issues as we reseeded into their lives, proving the seed has generational fruitfulness.

This teaching pinpoints that those who developed PTSD, from exposure to the same trauma that leaves others untouched, had a lack of nurture in their childhoods that imprinted their biology to be more susceptible to and have a lower coping threshold for trauma. Previous blogs have unpacked chastisement as receiving instruction of God’s commandments, NURTURE, & discipline from the Heavenly Father. So those who are experiencing the fall-out from spiritual PTSD is because they LACKED generational chastisement.  

Therefore, in addition to casting out the spirit of fear and releasing supernatural healing of the biological/hormonal components of shellshocked warriors, the long-term generational walkout solution to shell-shock/PTSD must include a restoration of the 3 aspects of chastisement in both the physical and spiritual realms:

1) Receiving instruction of God’s commandments to restore the Fear of the LORD, both externally from our fathers that are to teach us God’s ways and internally as Abba Father teaches us understanding of the Spirit of the Law as it is written upon our hearts, with its rewards of wisdom, understanding, knowledge, honor, wealth and life that can overcome the snares of the fear of man.  (**Fear the LORD & Prosper manual available on my resource page, part way down.)

2) Receiving nurturing from the Heavenly Father, which requires removing the sin & iniquity that turns His face away from us (Isaiah 59:2), so that we can be restored in relationship with Him. Also, we need husbands /fathers/pastors/shepherds that will to promote and sustain the spiritual growth and development of our souls by washing us with the water of the word, not just handing us eye & ear candy at best or expecting the ladies & children to feed ourselves or starve at worst.  The Heavenly Father promises to give us  shepherds according to His heart, which shall feed us with knowledge and understanding. (Jer 3:15) We also need to receive real koinonia fellowship of a nurturing Christian community, not the counterfeit façade of family that the church business system promotes. Koinonia’s primary meaning is “fellowship, sharing in common, communion.”  In other words, koinonia is being in agreement with one another, being united in purpose, and serving alongside each other. It’s impossible to achieve that kind of nurturing and intimacy while sitting in a pew silently with total strangers that we aren’t interacting with during a 1.5 hrs service once a week or even through digital worship. In order to be in agreement, there has to be a consistent foundation, which is the commandments and word and Spirit of the LORD. In contrast, denominational doctrinal theology has bred the visible fruit of disagreement and division. Nurturing also requires open-heart relationship on both sides because no matter how much nurture one gives to someone with a heart closed from pride, the nurturing will still be rejected, becoming unrequited love.  That’s why God warns that if we have ought against our brother, we are to go and restore the relationship and THEN bring our gift to the altar.  

3) Discipline is for the purpose of releasing the nature and character of Jesus Christ, the Word, within us.  The dictionary defines discipline as: “1) Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement. 2) Control obtained by enforcing compliance or order. Controlled behavior resulting from disciplinary training; self-control.” The Bible tells us the father disciplines those he loves, which applies to both earthly fathers and our Heavenly Father. Those who love Him will not only obey but cherish/keep His commandments. Those who reject His chastisement are rejecting His love and become bastards disqualified from inheritance.  We need the baptism of the Holy Spirit to manifest the fruit of self-control as well as have the instruction of His voice within us.

Isaiah 61:1-7 – The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. 4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. 6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. 7 For your SHAME ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them. 

The Silver Lining in the Cloud:

Those who have successfully endured the first few years of this decade of fire (2020-2030) have been trained in the trenches to receive the promises of Isaiah 61, developing a deeper level of compassion, understanding, & supernatural power to aid those they will lead in the future. Their own visible testimonies that God’s word is true is proof that they have authority over that which they have overcome, and not merely full of hot air and heady powerless theologies. 
John 14:26 KJV – But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

2 Corinthians 1:3-11 NLT–  3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. 6 Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. 7 We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us. 8 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters,[b] about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. 11 And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.
