The 3 wk period of Dire Straits has ended! Although I started out walking on water, I lost my persevering focus on the impossible promises of God and started to falter and stink under the storm waves that buffeted me for 80 exhausting days.
Yet the part that we rarely hear in the story of Peter walking on the water the focus being on when Jesus reached out to Peter and lifted Peter back up onto the surface of the water and WALKED back to the boat TOGETHER.
It’s not Jesus’ nature and character to tell Peter he was a dismal failure and forfeited his promise. Jesus didn’t say to Peter, “You screw up!” and demand he swim back to the boat. Jesus didn’t grab him by the back of his soggy robe and throw him over His shoulder like a sack of soggy potatoes with a big sigh. He exposed the landing pad the devil used to wrench Peter’s focus away from the face of Jesus – doubt! Then Jesus reached out His hand, gave Peter a second chance, and they walked SUCCESSFULLY on the storm TOGETHER back to the boat.
What came next? The storm ENDED! Sometimes God allows us to go through vicious storms in order to expose those cracks of independence and self-effort hidden deep down in our foundations that wouldn’t have been exposed without extreme pressure so that the breach can be bound up, walking out of the storm triumphant TOGETHER. My God is so big, so strong, and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do – for me and for you!
Isaiah 42:6 I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
Matt 15:30-31 – 30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed (thoroughly, make whole) them: 31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
Too many servants of God have stolen God’s glory for themselves, and He is a JEALOUS God! Right now, God is cleansing SELF from the His bride and restoring a deeper level of humility than they have ever known so that when this next wave of GLORY comes, it will cause people to glorify the God of Israel instead of a man’s ministry and gifting.
