On Friday evening June 26th, I released a verbal warning that “The Whales are Coming for Their Jonah’s.” It was received with fearful trembling, but God always gives warnings to give HOPE! Sometimes the warning is to provide time to course correct through repentance. Other times, it’s to understand WHY the judgment is falling and to look for the light at the end of the tunnel.
The Jonah’s have chosen in fear, rebellion, and bitterness to run away from their God-given destinies to minister to those who have harmed them in the past. In turn, their rebellion has caused God’s judgment to land upon the ships giving safe passage to the Jonah’s. Those ships are suffering financial loss and overwhelming fear, causing them to cry out to their false gods, discovering they have failed them. The God who created the storm has heard the cries from those on those storm-tossed ships even if some of them didn’t know who they were crying out to. He loves them so much, He brought the storm to prove to them that He is greater than their gods with no voice, no ears, and no true power and introduce them to power of the One True God. The storm wasn’t sent to destroy them but to wake them up. It was also to position Jonah for his supernatural rescue.
God also loves the Jonah’s more than they love themselves, intercepting their self-sabotaging spiritual suicide by DISPATCHING their whales to bring a course correction. God deeply loves the 120,000 wicked Ninevites that He knows will repent if they are only given the chance to hear the Jonahs’ stern warnings to repent. This isn’t just about a rescue mission for a single person but their destiny that will touch thousands upon thousands of lives.
