A Vision of Past-Due Bills

During Bible reading with the children in Matt 27 about the crucifixion, it leapt out that Jesus was dressed in fine linen and they cast lots for his blood-soaked linen instead of ripping it apart.

1) This proves Jesus did not take a vow of poverty nor was “poor” in the financial sense. He was arrayed in the most expensive clothing available in His day. He also had his own personal treasurer everywhere He went, Judas! (*Note: He did not store up his treasures for himself but used them to minister to others at their level and in their need.)

2) The new revelation. Jesus was clothed in fine linen literally, which Revelation 19.8 reveals is the righteous acts of the saints, which His Bride will also be arrayed in. And those righteous acts were covered in His blood to cleanse away any spots or wrinkles. Though our sins are as scarlet, He makes us white as snow. But if we don’t cover them with His blood, they are still dirty.

3) Then I suddenly entered a vision that played out like a drama on a church stage. There was a man on a church stage opening a bill stamped in big red letters PAST DUE! He had a big smile on his face as he declared to the audience, “Hallelujah! My debt is paid!” As he waved the bill around. Jesus was standing off on the side with his big banker’s bag looking sad but patiently waiting. The mailman delivers more bills, again marked past due. The man keeps joyfully declaring his bills are paid as he stuffs them in his back pocket and keeps living life, racking up more and more debt. 3 times the man receives past due bills and continues to hold onto them all the while declaring they are paid. Finally, the police come for him to take him away to debtors’ prison because he did not pay his bills. He sputters, “But Jesus paid them for me!” Then Jesus speaks up from the corner and says, “I was willing to pay them for you, but you refused to come to Me and give them to me so that I could personally pay off your debts. Rather, you chose to hang onto them instead. Knowing about and declaring about the truth does not set you free. It is coming TO Me, the Truth, and humbling yourself enough to confess you were unable to wisely steward your finances yourself and surrendering your mess and humbly receiving from me the free gift of salvation. Then you would truly have had freedom. Now it’s too late. The stage lights go out.
