GEM NUGGET – Parable of the 10 Virgins – Matt 25:1-12 (Received on Oct 3rd while teaching my children)
During Bible time today (Oct 3/2019) with the children, I received a deeper level of understanding with this passage that I’ve never heard preached before. Normally, I don’t post my gem nuggets here (I don’t have time to write out every single one!) but I felt for this one, I was to share publicly. The short and sweet? If you aren’t obeying God’s commandments, you don’t know Him and you are the foolish virgin that won’t get into heaven. Ouch! That makes up the majority of Christianity today because they have been taught and swallowed Jezebel’s fornication that God’s commandments are only for the “Jews”. If we can identify what makes a virgin foolish and what makes a virgin wise, then we can ensure we aligned with the right group!
In Matthew 25vs 12 sums it up where Jesus told the foolish virgins, “I know you not.” We know from 1 John 2:3-6 that, “ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” Cross reference that with Matt 7:21-23 – “21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Pharaoh’s and Nebuchadnezzar’s sorcerers / soothsayers could prophesy and do signs and wonders. So did Balaam of Peor, who was also another soothsayer, even though the Most High God spoke to him and used him to pronounce blessing upon Israel. But they won’t be found in Heaven.
Backtrack a second. The devil will always slip arsenic into a protein shake to seduce the simple…he’ll hide poison in something that “looks desirable” to deceive you into swallowing the poison with it. God’s commandments ARE only for the Jews. Yet the definition of “Jew” has been twisted in western Christianity for the most part to absolve us of obedience to mean someone who is from the literal country of Israel, adheres to Judaism, and/or who has Jewish DNA. The classic case of, “Yes, THEY have to obey, but I’m not a Jew so it doesn’t apply to me.” Do you really comprehend what you, as a Christian, are saying when you say that? That you are NOT a child of God!!! You’re merely Jezebel’s bastard (Deut 23:2; Heb 12:8, Rev 2:20). Are you sure you want to be prophesying and proclaiming that??? Bastards don’t get an inheritance! (Rom 4:11-13; Gal 3:29) Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (James 1:22)
Folks, who were the Jews? JEHOVAH’S CHOSEN PEOPLE! Are you chosen? They were identified by His presence (Ex 33:16). Do you want to carry God’s presence? They were identified by a circumcised heart, which only came through obedience to His commandments (Deut 10:16; 30:6). Do you truly have a circumcised heart? Apostle Paul confirms this in Romans 2:29 – “29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” When the Israelites decided to be a rebellious house (Eze 2:6, 12:2) and act like gentiles, they received the wrath of God’s judgment until they finally repented. The gentiles, through Jesus Christ, were given the privilege through adoption to be grafted into the True Vine, which meant they had to start acting and speaking like God’s chosen people, not continue acting like a dog that returns to his vomit as a fool returns to his folly (Prov 26:11). Remember, dogs are left outside of heaven just like the foolish virgins. (Rev 22:15)
Now to get back to the nitty gritty of The Parable of the 10 Virgins. Jesus was preaching to a congregation that was thoroughly familiar with the Old Testament. Therefore, when He used key words, they knew the symbolism He was using. However today, a solid understanding of the Old Testament is no longer cherished “because we have Jesus now!” (Which I would consider “another Jesus” in many circles.) So, let’s start dissecting this parable according to the Biblical usage of the words, see it a whole new way, and get ourselves into alignment with His word!
Matthew 25:1-12 KJV
Vs 2 – The WISE & FOOLISH:
-The Wise were those who had the Fear of the LORD and obey His commandments.
– The FOOLISH are those who hate instruction and rebuke. The Torah (first 5 books of the English Bible, also known as the Pentateuch) is translated as “Teaching” or “Instruction”. How many pastors have I heard say, “Oh just skip over Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. They’re too hard and boring to read and don’t apply to us, anyway.” Those pastors are foolish virgins.
– Job 28:28 – And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
– Deut 10:12-13 – 12 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,13 To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Deut 4:5-6 5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. 6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
– Psalm 111:10 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
– Proverbs 1:7 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
– Psalm 5:5- The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
– Psalm 14:1 – The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
– Psalm 107:17 – Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
– Proverbs 3:35 – The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
– Proverbs 13:19 – The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
– Proverbs 15:5 – A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
– Proverbs 21:20 – There is treasure to be desired and OIL in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
– Isaiah 33:6 – And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.
Vs. 4 – The wise took oil in their vessels WITH their lamps.
– Oil + lamp. Baptism & indwelling of the Holy Spirit + the Word. one or the other.
– Oil = baptism of the Holy Spirit. Kings, Priests, temples/tabernacles, altars, offerings, and the sick for healing were anointed with anointing oil.
– Lamp = was a clay vessel; also represented God’s word.
– John 8:12 – Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
– Psalm 119:105 – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
– Ps 19:8 – 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
– 2 Cor 4:6-8 – 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
-Luke 12- 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
– Ex 27:20 – 20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.
– Matt 5:16-17 – 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Vs 5 – While the bridegroom tarried, they ALL slumbered and slept.
– Both the wise and foolish virgins ALL slumbered. They both came under the judgment of a spirit of slumber because of the foolish choices of their leaders to worship God with their lips and not their hearts, teaching the fear of God through traditions of men instead of His commandments. (Isaiah 29)
– Bob Jones (and others) prophesied a 40-year judgment period of “Ichabod” – the glory has departed – written upon the church doors. That took effect 1977 and ended 2017. Now that that season of slumber is over, we must repossess the territory we lost through the rebellion of past generations, just like the remnant that left the land of exile to rebuild the temple with Ezra and then Nehemiah. They were zealous for the LORD but without knowledge and had to be taught the Laws and Feasts of God they hadn’t been taught while in captivity and walked through repentance. I prophesied back in January 2019 that we are now entering into the season of Ezra. Now entering 5780 (Oct 2019), I released that this would be the Year of the Plumbline and Ascending into His Glory. A plumbline is a weighted construction tool attached to a string hung from the top that helps ensure that framing is perfectly vertical and not skewed. We want perfectly square walls and doors and corners in our house, not haphazardly thrown together so that doors & closets fail to close properly or square-cornered flooring failing to butt up cleanly to the crooked walls. Anyone who has lived in in a “creatively built” house knows the strife and frustration as doors stick, floorboards wobble, closets that are impossible to close (or open!). God is bringing His plumbline droppers and renovators to confront & cleanse Jeroboam’s house (Amos 7) in order to remove the strife and envy that is the root of every evil thing from His House. Expect it to look messy for a season but once the renovations are done, it will be beautiful!
Vs. 6 – And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
– Who will hear? Who will go? He is inviting “ginokso” knowing intimacy as the prophets have been declaring en masse for a couple years now.
– Matthew 3:3 – For this is he [John the Baptist] that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
– Isaiah 6:8-10 – 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. 9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
– Deut 4: 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: 5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
– Romans 10:17 – So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
– James 2:26 – For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
– Midnight is the moment we cross from one day to the next, from the second watch (9pm-12am) to the third watch of the night (12am – 3am), which is considered the darkest time of the night. Many prophets have declared we have entered into the Kingdom era. Cross-connect that to what the prophets have also been declaring about Isaiah 60. The first time I heard it prophesied on Christmas day, Dec 25th, 2017, it hit me like a wrecking shockwave as God challenged me, “Do you want the gifts or the Giver?” resulting in me spending the day in corporate prayer & worship dance with a few other oddballs like me instead of worshiping the forbidden green tree with gifts under it (Jer 3:13).
– Now in light of all the above, re-read Isaiah 60:1-2 – “Arise [wake up!], shine [need oil and the lamp for that!]; for thy light [Jesus – our spark/lighter!] is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” Do we realize how CLOSE we are to the second coming of Jesus Christ???
– Cross-reference that with how it was the High Priest’s responsibility to initially light the lamp but it was the priests’ responsibility to keep it burning. Jesus Christ is our High Priest. The only priests who had access to the inner court, who were given access to minister to the LORD, were the sons of Zadok and can be recognized by life choices. (Eze 44)
Vs. 7-8 – 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out
– The fools lacked the baptism of the Holy Spirit and they did not know/obey their Bibles enough to guide them in dark times. We require the baptism of the Holy Spirit to have revelation of the scriptures.
– Their lamps went out, suggesting at one time they did have light.
– Revelation 2:4-5 – 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
– Matt 6: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
– Psalm 119:105 – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
– Eph 1: 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
-> The Fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. (Ps 111:10; Prov 9:10)
– John 20:22 – And when [Jesus] had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
à The disciples already had the baptism of the Holy Spirit BEFORE Jesus ascended back to Heaven, and the upper room experience where they were baptized with fire.
– Luke 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
– John 4:23 – But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
à Notice we are to worship the Father, not the son. Jesus is the way TO the Father, not the destination. Whoever stops right on the congested QEW highway and rejoices that this is their vacation spot? Only those who haven’t been hungering and thirsting after righteousness and believe they don’t need a potty! Give it some time, discontent and apathy will start to set in!
– ** When Philip preached the gospel with signs and wonders to Samaria and many received the word of God, believed and were baptized. But the job wasn’t considered complete by the apostles, so they sent Peter & John to fill them with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 8:5-17)
– **Another example was the Apostle Paul who ran into passionate disciples of John (baptism of water symbolizing repentance of sins) and filled them with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 19:1-6)
– ** Aquila and Priscilla helped Apollos, who only knew about John’s baptism, have a better understanding of the way of God. (Acts 18:24-26)
Vs 9 – 10 – 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
– Isaiah 55:1-2 – Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
– Mark 12: 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
– Isaiah 26:20 – Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
– Gen 7:16 – A male and female of each kind entered, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD closed the door [of the ark] behind them.(NLT) (**The door to the ark was closed 7 days before the flood waters came. – Gen 7:10)
Vs 11-12 – 11 Afterward came also the other [foolish] virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
– Genesis 4:1- And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
– “Knowing” (ginosko) refers to marital intimacy that results in fruitfulness.
– Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
– Deuteronomy 30:19 – I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
– 1 John 2:3-5 – 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
– Matt 7:19-23 – 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
– Luke 13: 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
– Matt 25: 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 2 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
